The Garmont T8 Bifida boots were one of the two original models of boots created by Garmont in 2008. They are still today one of their top-selling products. The T8 Bifida boots were specifically designed to cater to special forces soldiers’ needs and they have survived the test of time.
They’re one of the best combat boots for the military, but also come highly recommended for other professional use or outdoor sports – police, hikers, hunters, etc.
For our Australian readers, note that the Garmont T8 Bifida model is the same as the Garmont T8 Multi Terrain ADF-approved boot.

Garmont T8 Bifida Testimonials from Three SOF Operators
Most Common Boot on Selection
“I wore the Garmont T8 Bifida for selection due to the fact we were required to wear ADF-approved boots. These were the most common boots that candidates were wearing. I found them to be light enough that they did not significantly impact my 3.2 km run time, and they gave me minimal issues during my pack march. However, I still had to strap my feet due to hot spots. When I did get blisters, I could release the laces enough so that I did not have to painfully scrape my blistered foot out to treat it, so that was a positive.”
Lack of Waterproofing Doesn’t Bother me
“I have been through a couple pairs of Garmont T8 now (I bought them again when the first pair wore out which I guess is a testament to my satisfaction). I’m not too bothered by the fact they’re not waterproof.”
Wore Down Too Quickly For My Liking
“I must say that I am rather disappointed with the Garmont T8 military boots. They started showing signs of wear and tear far sooner than I expected. The soles wore down quickly. In terms of comfort, the T8 Bifida boots were quite comfortable, but I did find them to be lacking adequate arch support, leading to discomfort and foot fatigue after prolonged use. Overall, while Garmont may have a reputation for quality, the T8 military boots fell short of my expectations. Not saying they aren’t good boots, just not for me.

Garmont T8 Bifida Review and Overall Assessement
The Garmont T8 boot is one of the most highly-rated multi-terrain tactical boots available on the market today. And god forbid you attempt Special Force Selection and not have a set on you. The Garmont T8 is a versatile and durable boot that is designed to meet the needs of military personnel, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. With its superior traction, stability, and shock reduction capabilities, this boot can perform in a variety of terrain.
Garmont T8 tactical boot material
The Garmont T8 tactical boot’s outside layer is made from a combination of nylon and suede leather. The mix of materials provides durability, flexibility, breathability, and abrasion resistance BUT it is not waterproof (more on that later).
Hookless rigging
The hook-less rigging proof hardware make the T8 a common choice in all operating environments. It makes it easier and quicker to put on and remove boots (no rubbing on those blisters when taking it off!).
GT8 Bifida Vibram Sole
One of the standout features of the T8 Bifida is its Vibram sole, which is specifically designed to provide maximum traction and stability on any surface. It’s so good that Garmont got it trademark registered.
This means that whether you are hiking through the jungle, traversing rocky terrain, or running through the desert, your boots will provide you with the grip and stability you need to navigate the terrain with ease.
The Vibram sole, combined with the boots’ design, provides optimal control and grip on unsteady and muddy terrain, helping to prevent slips and falls.
Ortholite® Ultra footbed
The Ortholite® Ultra footbed is the insole that provides cushioning, support, and comfort to your feet. The Ortholite® Ultra footbed is made from a high-density foam material that is designed to provide enhanced durability, breathability, and moisture-wicking properties, which helps to keep feet dry and comfortable.
The boots also feature a shock-absorbing midsole, which can help reduce the impact on the feet and joints during long periods of wear or physical activity.
Support
The foot bed cup system provides excellent stability, and reduces stress on the ankles and knees.
Lightweight
The Garmont T8 Bifida is lightweight at only just 660g per boot (this is based on a US size 9 boot).
No Waterproofing
It dries decently in amphibious or wet climates, despite not being waterproof. If you buy those boots, you might want to check out our tips on how to dry your tactical boots fast.
Scotchgard Suede & Nubuck Protector is a popular waterproofing product for suede leather, and it is particularly useful for combat boots like the Garmont T8 as it creates that missing protective barrier that repels water and prevents it from penetrating the suede leather.
